American Metal Detectors

What We Do

We keep our metal detecting adventures very basic, safe and simple. It is a hobby for us. We make sure that the areas we hunt are indeed safe, easy to reach and hunting is easy to achieve. We are in this for both fun and educating ourselves with the past. What we don't do, is ever reveal where we found artifacts to anyone other than the property owner. Where we hunt is always kept private.

When We Find A Target

When our machine finds a target we deem worth investigating, we determine the exact location and depth of the target. We then cut a small plug in the ground, flip it to the side, find our target and then backfill and flip the plug back into place.

The three stages of digging for a target.

Permissions & Obeying The Laws

One of the most important rules when you metal detect is to make sure you have permission from whomever owns or is an official representative of the property you would like to hunt. We also are very aware of the laws on the books that are directed at those who metal detect.

Our Code Of Ethics
